Youth & Funerals

Attending a funeral is an important part of the grievingprocess for everyone, including children. Children need family support whensomeone important to them dies, and that usually means that they attend thefuneral with family.

Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory encourages adultsto talk with children when a parent, grandparent or other friend or relative dies.A direct, honest approach works best to answer their questions about wheregrandma went and what happens now. By preparing children for funeral services, they will know what to expect and will learn that death is a part of life. Childrencan even be involved in the memorialization of a loved one. Please see belowfor a video and booklet that will guide you and help you talk to children aboutfunerals and death.
