Cindy, John and I are so sorry to hear of your mom's passing. She was such a wonderful lady. I remember fondly all the fun times I spent at your house during our Augie days. Our prayers and thoughts are with you. Unfortunately we are in Florida and won't be at her funeral.

Cindy:
We are saddened to hear about your mother's passing away. Even though my mother, Saretta, passed away in 1989, I remember her vividly and miss her very much. I take comfort in trying to maintain the traditions and follow the lessons she taught me. She would tell me stories about her childhood, meeting my father, and things my brothers and I did when we were too young to remember...while we cooked and cleaned together. To this day,i still enjoy cooking and cleaning! I hope telling you this will provide comfort, caring and companionship in your moment of grief.

Your mom was a special lady! Always warm and welcoming to us whenever we were in town. She was interested in what was going on with us and our growing family even when we stopped in for a surprise visit this fall. I loved knowing she was on campus when I was at Augie, Lucky you to have such a wonderful Guardian Angel!

Doris Johnston was one of my favorite people when I arrived on campus as an untested rookie teacher and coach. She was from day one kind (helped me find a place to live), encouraging (knew how the teams I was coaching were doing), and supportive (she followed my initiation to grad school---for me at that time in the summers). So special.

So sorry to hear of your loss. I remember Doris and Clayt well as they were part of St. John's Two By Two Club. Fond memories of my days at St. John's. It's so difficult to see all our parents' generation passing, but we know they are together again in a far better place. God's Blessings to you all and my sincere sympathy.

Doris was a bright presence at Augustana for many years. Earnest, helpful, honest, patient and kind to everyone, she also made a difference by volunteering at the hospital for many years after her retirement. I am sorry to hear of Doris' passing...

Please accept our sincere sympathy on your mom's passing. We knew Doris through St. John's Lutheran Church. She was helpful in teaching Linnea about duties of Altar Guild. Doris was a devoted member of St. John's. She was a "classy" lady. Her presence will be missed but her years of service will always be remembered. You are in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.

I was sad to hear of another parent passing. The photo is as I remember her. I lost my dad first and then my mom, too, and the realization that you are an orphan is hard. I'm sure she left you with great memories and lots of wisdom to carry on. I hope you find comfort and peace in your memories.
