Robert W. Blomgren

Robert “Bob” W. Blomgren, 76, of Moline, passed away October 18, 2021 at UnityPoint-Trinity, Rock Island. 

Live-streamed private family services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 21, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island, and may be viewed at wheelanpressly.com/live-stream-rock island. Private burial will be at Rose Lawn Cemetery, Moline. Memorials may be made to Rock Island/Milan Booster Club, Quad Cities Penguin Project, or a favorite charity. 

Robert was born June 14, 1945 in Moline, Illinois, the son of Robert C. and Evelyn Sytsma Blomgren. He graduated from Rock Island High School. Bob and Judith L. Griffin were united in marriage on August 21, 1965 in Davenport, Iowa. 

Bob was a concrete contractor for many years. First with Bibee and Blomgren Construction, later Blomgren Construction Co., and lastly with Layer Brothers Construction Co. 

He was a past board member of Rock Island/Milan Booster Club, and ardent supporter and fan of Rock Island High School and Augustana sports. He was a former member of Zion Lutheran Church, Davenport, Iowa. Bob loved fishing, going to his grandchildren’s sporting events, and spending time with friends and family. 

Surviving are his wife, Judith, of Moline; daughters, Kristen VanEarwage, Rock Island, and Dori (Robert) Garro, Rock Island; son-in-law, Mark VanEarwage, Rock Island; grandchildren, Cameron Ruiz, Taryn VanEarwage, Donovan Garro and Griffin Garro; sister, Sandra (Larry) Mortier, North Carolina; nieces, Pam and Nicole; and nephews, Kevin and Joe. 

Bob was preceded in death by his father and mother.
