Richard Mark Amy, 67, of Illinois City, passed away Friday, December 3, 2021. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, December 9, 2021, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Illinois City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Rockridge Wrestling Program.
Rick was the son of Richard and Frances Amy. He was a graduate of Sherrard High School, Monmouth College and Olivet University. He married Kay Jackson on August 14, 1977.
Rick was a teacher and coach at the Rockridge School District for 35 years. While at Rockridge, he won state championships in football and wrestling. Rick started both the little guys programs in football and wrestling. He also started the Jr. high wrestling program, the high school FCA, and softball program.
Rick was inducted into the IWCOA Hall of Fame and the Sherrard Academic Hall of Fame.
He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
Rick is survived by his wife, Kay; sons, Steve (Staci), Princeton, IL, Kevin (Kara), Andalusia, and Keith (Courtney), Reynolds; grandchildren, Cooper, Hawk, Lucas, Huxley, Ryker, Kennedy, and one expected on the way; sister, Reita (Mike) Kuster; mother-in-law, Donna Jackson; sister-in-law, Janet (Dave) Swanson; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Robert Jackson; and great niece, Addie Swanson.
