Mary Ann Thomson

Mary Ann Thomson, 77, of Moline, IL passed away on Sunday, September 25, 2022 at her home. Rosary at 3:30 PM with visitation following from 4-7:00 PM on Thursday, September 29, 2022 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM on Friday, September 30, 2022 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moline. Entombment in Calvary Mausoleum, Rock Island. Memorials preferred to the family.

Mary was born on August 31, 1945 to Roy and Rose Marie (Schieberl) Van Tuyl in Moline. She grew up in Rock Island and graduated from Alleman Catholic High School. On May 16, 1964 she was united in marriage to Richard “Foot” Thomson in Rock Island. The couple made their home in Rock Island where they raised their three children. Mary and Richard were active with the Rock Island Elks Lodge #980. She was also involved with the Red Hat Society. Mary was a former member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, and most recently worshipped at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Moline.

Mary loved playing cards, especially Aggravation, with a few of her closest friends. She cherished the time she spent with her family and enjoyed attending the sporting events of her grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Martin (Dianna) Thomson, Paul (Tiffany McVietty) Thomson, and Beth (Mark) Reschke; grandchildren, Michael (Kelly) Thomson, Christopher Thomson, Travis (Kelsi) Thomson, Rebecca Thomson, Brittany (Tanner) Brasel, Alisan (James) Weinert, Hannah (John Powell) Reschke, Logan Reschke, and Adam Reschke; great-grandchildren, Hudson Thomson, Mason Brasel, Willow, Milo and Levi Weinert, and Maxwell Thomson; sisters, Rosalie Vertraete and Susan (Alan) Shannon.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
