Josephine Elizabeth "Betty" Kopp

Josephine (Hyde) Kopp was born in San Antonio, Texas on September 27, 1928 to JB and Josephine (Farrish) Hyde.

She was baptized as a Catholic at age 20 days, and was an ardent Catholic her entire life, most recently practicing at St. Pius X in Rock Island. Betty was a world traveler, and was very proud to have visited Rome.

Betty’s passion was teaching children. She taught at Jordan Catholic School, Arrowhead Ranch and Wilson School in Davenport.
If Betty ever had you in a class, she had you forever in her heart. Betty kept all of her seating charts, to which she would add clippings from the newspapers. She lovingly remarked on birth notices, employment announcements and home purchases. “Look how far this one has come!” Or “I knew this one would do well!”

Though married three times, Betty was never blessed with children of her own, so she made the Children of St. Jude her special devotion. She was a monthly contributor to St. Jude up until the time of her death.

She would appreciate any memorials to be made to either St. Pius X Catholic Church in Rock Island, IL or St Jude’s Children's Hospital in Memphis, TN.

Betty was very grateful for the wonderful care she received at Overlook Village these last few years.

Betty was preceded in  death by her parents, sister Dorothy Beard, and husbands, Albert W. Nelson, Dick Judisch, and Klaudius Kopp.

Betty was interred at Calvary Mausoleum, Rock Island. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, September 27th, 2022 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island.
