Jolene M. Mullins

Jolene Marie Mullins, 72, Bettendorf, IA passed away Thursday, March 23, 2023 at Genesis East Hospital, Davenport. Visitation will be from 9-11:00 AM with a memorial service following at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Davenport. Private burial will be in the St. Paul Memorial Garden. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to St. Paul Madison Food Pantry.

Jolene was born on August 29, 1950 to Glen and Ruth (Peterson) Anderson in Red Oak, IA. She grew up in Red Oak, graduating high school in 1968. She then attended Northwest Missouri State University, earning a degree in Elementary Education in 1972. She taught in Savannah, MO for a few years before moving to the Quad Cities where she began her career with the Pleasant Valley School District. During her 30-year tenure, she taught second grade at Bridgeview Elementary, earned a Master’s Degree from Drake University, and then became a reading specialist before retiring in 2007.

Jolene married James Mullins, her high school sweetheart, on August 15, 1970. The couple made their home in Bettendorf. They were active members of St. Paul Lutheran Church where they sang in the choir and Jolene also volunteered for funeral luncheons and assisted with reorganizing the library. She was an avid reader who read anything she could get her hands on. Jolene loved spending time with her family, often attending the activities of her children and grandchildren, and always made sure to make every holiday special.

She is survived by her husband, Jim; daughters, Anne Mullins, Kelly (Chad) Terry; grandchildren, Blake Preston, Will, Nathan and Beth Behrens; Noah and Isaiah Terry; and sister, Judy (Jim) Kuhagen.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and daughter, Sarah Behrens.
