Janice E. (Schmidt) Stewart

Janice E. Stewart, 75, of Illinois City, died Thursday, April 15, 2021 at her home.  Funeral services will be 10:00 am Monday, April 19, 2021 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 201 E. 4th Avenue, Milan.  Visitation will be Sunday, April 18, 2021 from 2-4 pm at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Edgington Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in care of the Quad City Animal Welfare Center, Milan.

Janice was born in Moline, Illinois on September 21, 1945, a daughter of Ernest and Lucille Carpenter Schmidt.  She married William Stewart on May 2, 1964 at Edgington Evangelical Presbyterian Church.

Janice worked as a bookkeeper for many years at Crop Production Services, retiring in 1993.

Janice was an avid card player and participated in many card clubs.  She enjoyed shopping, traveling and spending time with her cats. She loved the time spent with her grandchildren.  Together, they made many great memories.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, William Stewart; children, Angie (Terry) Dierikx and Eric (Ryan) Stewart; grandchildren, Lucie, Logan and Libby Dierikx and Hunter, Carter and Ireland Stewart; and sisters-in-law, Linda and Janet Schmidt.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Bruce and Darrell Schmidt and a grandson, Cannon Stewart.
