Sharon K. (Emrick) DeVriese

Sharon K. DeVriese, 76, of Rock Island, died Friday, Jan. 18, 2019 at her home.

Funeral services are 6 pm Tuesday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 201 E 4th Ave., Milan.   Visitation is 4 pm until service time Tuesday.  Burial will be 10 am Wednesday at Chippiannock Cemetery, Rock Island, those who wish to attend may meet at the funeral home at 9:30 am Wednesday to follow to the cemetery.  Memorials may be given to the family.

Sharon Emrick was born Oct. 20, 1942 in Moline, a daughter of Cleo and Gwendolyn Pfundstein Emrick.  She married William DeVriese on Oct. 26, 1963 in Rock Island.  He died June 5, 2012.

She retired from the Rock Island - Milan Public Schools in 2008, where she had been a food service worker for 43 years.

Sharon was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan.  She enjoyed the outdoors, walking, bicycling and spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Michael DeVriese, Rock Island, Suzanne (Jeff) Rakestraw, Geneseo and Tim (Pam) DeVriese, Mesa, Ariz.; grandchildren, Bradley, Calvin, Savannah, Shane, Shawn, Donnie (Krista) and Tara (Allysha); 17 great-grandchildren; a sister, Maxine Fausett, Milan; and a special brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Tom and Anita DeVriese.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill; twin sister, Karen Emrick; and sister, Jean James.
