Rommel VanHook, 55, of Coyne Center, passed away Thursday April 11, 2019 at UPH Trinity, Bettendorf, IA.
Funeral services will be 11am Tuesday at Preemption United Methodist Church, 2652 170th Avenue, Preemption. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00pm Monday at Wheelan Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan. Burial will be in Preemption Cemetery. Memorials may be left to the family.
Rommel was born on November 4, 1963 in Osage, IA, the son of Larry and Shirley (Stineman) VanHook. He married Melynda Nunn on October 18, 1986 in the former Rock Island United Methodist Church.
Mr. VanHook had been employed at Arconic Inc., Bettendorf, formerly known as Alcoa.
Rommel loved spending time with his grandchildren, coaching softball and teaching his daughters to ride four wheelers and dirt bikes. He had served as a fire fighter, EMT and later Assistant Chief with Coyne Center Fire Department from 1990 to 2015.
Survivors include his wife Melynda, Coyne Center; mother, Shirley VanHook, East Moline; daughters, Chantelle (Orrin) Peterson, Taylor Ridge, Christina Kirzeder (Josh Ruark), Milan, Brionna VanHook, Milan; grandchildren, Kaleb Willert, Jayden Fullington, Calilynn Peterson, Lex Kirzeder, Barrett Peterson, Jordan VanHook; siblings, Teri Tinker, East Moline, Diane (Mike) Bajc, Matherville, Lonnie (Kari) VanHook, Burlington, WI.; many nieces and nephews; and dear friends, Quinten (Tracy) Waterman.
He was preceded in death by his father, Larry and sister, LaDonna VanHook.
