Patricia Prouty Obituary

Patricia Ann Prouty, 84, of Bolingbrook, formerly of Rock Island, passed away Monday, March 11, 2019 at her home.  Funeral services for Patricia will be 1 p.m. Friday at the Knox Chapel of Wheelan Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 2106 7th Ave., Rock Island.  Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. 

Patricia was born May 21, 1934 in Burlington, Iowa, a daughter of Gilbert and Letha (Watson) Lynch.  At the age of 9, she was adopted by C. Walter and Marge Orin.  Patricia graduated from Ottumwa Heights and Black Hawk College.  She married Ollie E. Prouty on May 27, 1961 in Moline.  Ollie passed away on December 8, 2014.  Patricia was the first female Sherriff’s Deputy in Rock Island County.  She served as a Deputy Sherriff from 1970 to 1980.  She retired from Deere and Company’s General Offices in 1993. 

Patricia was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and had served on the Illowa Council of Boy Scouts.  Patricia loved spending time with her family.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Randy (Debbie) Prouty; grandchildren, Nicole Prouty, Nicolas Prouty and Tiffany Prouty; 3 great grandchildren, a step son Steve (Eunyce) Prouty; 7 step grandchildren; 15 step great grandchildren; 9 step great-great-grandchildren; and many additional loving family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ollie; infant son, David Orin Hull; her parents, her brother, Douglas “Sonny” Tucker and her sister, Dorothy Hearn and her stepson, Jack Prouty

It was the request of Patricia that, in lieu of flowers, a donation to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or your favorite charity be made in her memory.
