Michelle “Chris” C. Fiedler, 61, of Milan, passed away Sunday, November 11, 2018 at UPH-Trinity, Rock Island.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at First Presbyterian Church, Coal Valley. Visitation will be held from 4 pm to 7 pm on Friday, November 16, 2018 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan. Burial will be at Fiedler Cemetery in Floris, IA at 4 pm on Saturday after the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Coal Valley or to the AlWood Community School District #225 - Art Department.
Chris was born on February 22, 1957 in Rock Island, the daughter of Ted and Edna (Engstrom) Fiedler. She graduated in 1993 from Teiyko Marycrest College, Davenport, with a Master’s Degree in teaching. After graduation Chris worked for Rock Island High School and Moline High School until 1998 where she became the art teacher for the AlWood School District. Chris was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. She enjoyed taking students and friends to art shows. Chris was big into genealogy. She was active in College for Kids, and was proud to have one of her books published. Chris also enjoyed helping Andy McCray from the Local 4 News team with the weather. Chris was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Coal Valley, where she served as a Deacon.
Chris is survived by her siblings, Michael (Donna) Fiedler, Rock Island, Martin (Reba) Fiedler, Sherrard, Matthew Fiedler, Mt. Hope, KS, Mitchell (Wendy) Fiedler, Orion, and Marshall (Cheryl) Fiedler, Kaiserslautern, Germany; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
