Esther (Hughes) Bloemsma

                 Esther Bloemsma, 94, of Milan, passed away Saturday August 10, 2019 at Avonlea Cottage, Milan.

                Graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at Roselawn Cemetery, Moline.  Memorials may be sent to Quad City Animal Welfare Center, Milan in memory of Esther. 

                Esther was born on September 24, 1924 in Winona, MN, the daughter of Joseph and Rose Hughes.  She married Albert Lewis and he preceded her in passing in 1967, later she married Archie Bloemsma in 1972, he preceded her in passing in 1985.  She then became best friends and companions in camping with Floyd Baker until his passing.  She moved to the Quad Cities at the age of 18 and worked at the Arsenal during WWII.  Esther will be remembered as one of the nicest ladies you could ever know and was truly a great mother and mother-in-law. 

                Esther’s family would like to thank the staff at Avonlea Cottage, Milan, for the car Esther received, it was great and put all our minds at ease. 

                Esther is survived by her daughter and husband, Linda and Pete Patterson, Milan and 2 nieces, Nancy Hammer and Lisa McDonald, bother of Winona, MN.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; brothers, Earl, Charles, Gordon, Raymond, and Richard; and sisters, Rose, Mabel, and Yvonne.
