Donald Roberts Obituary

 

Donald L. Roberts, 73, of Milan, passed away on Sunday August 12, 2018 at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics, Iowa City, IA.

A memorial mass will be held 1:00pm Friday August 24, 2018 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan. Burial will follow in Rock Island National Cemetery. In lieu of visitation the family will gather to greet friends from 3:30-7:00pm at the Camden Center, Milan. Memorials may be left to Church or University of Iowa Children’s Hospital.

Donald was born on May 5, 1945 in Cleveland, OH, the son of Kenneth and Eleanor (Bradley) Roberts. He married Nikki Brown on November 16, 1963 in Moline. He had been employed at the Rock Island Arsenal for over 20 years with the engineering Department.

Mr. Roberts was a United States Navy Veteran.

Donald was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan, IBEW Local, Past President of AFGE, former member of St. Patricks Catholic Church, where he served as a lector.

He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and was an avid Nascar, Cubs and Bears fan.

Survivors include his wife, Nikki; children, Dawn and Thomas “Chip” Irwin, Rapids City, Troy and Gina Roberts, Milan, Jason and Nicole White, Moline; grandchildren, Blake Irwin, Taylor Irwin, Hali (Russ) Hatch, Derek Roberts, Katlyn Roberts, Lauryn White, Madelyn White, Dylan White; great grandchildren, Preston, Karlee and Bryce; sister, Elaine White, Alabama.
