Clarence C. Jones

Clarence C. Jones, 95, a resident of the Ohio Veterans Home, Georgetown, Ohio, formerly of Rock Island, Ill., died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2018 at The Jewish Hospital-Mercy Health, Cincinnati, Ohio.

Funeral services are 11 am on Wednesday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7^th Ave., Rock Island.  Burial is at the National Cemetery, Arsenal Island, where military honors will be presented Moline American Legion Post 246.  Visitation is 10 am until service time Wednesday.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Clarence was born Feb. 17, 1923 in Eldon, Iowa, a son of John W. and Nancy A. Puffinbarger Jones.  He married Audrey M. Carter on Dec. 6, 1947 in Ottumwa, Iowa.  She died March 23, 2013.

He retired in 1981 from the John Deere Harvester Works, East Moline, where he worked for 30 years.

Clarence was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II.  He enjoyed camping and fishing.

Survivors include his sons, Leland K. Jones, Redding, Iowa, and David L. (Karen) Jones, Bethel, Ohio; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 65 years, Audrey; and six brothers and four sisters.
