Bernice M. (Melody) Secor

Bernice M. Secor, 93, of Moline, passed away peacefully Friday, March 15, 2019 at home.  A funeral service for Bernice will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 23 at 15th Ave. Christian Church, 3600 15th Ave., Rock Island. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at church.  Private burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island.  Memorials may be made to the church or to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Bernice was born January 4, 1926 in Moline, the daughter of Bert and Helen (Calhoun) Melody.  She married Robert J. Secor on August 9, 1943 in Davenport, IA.  Robert passed away on May 2, 1998.  Bernice was a loving homemaker for her husband and children.  She was a former member of Memorial Christian Church, and a member of 15th Ave. Christian Church and where she was very involved with the CWF Women’s Group. She and Bob were also active in the Christian Service Class where the class was noted for Pie parties.  Bernice loved reading, spending time with her family and she baked the best pies, especially raspberry. 

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Helen (David) Popp, Moline, Richard L. (Kathee) Secor, Orion, John K. (Debbie) Secor, Louisville, KY and Greg (Kathy) Secor, McLoud, OK; 6 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, and numerous extended family member and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; parents; son, Kenneth D. Secor; grandson, Steve Secor and a brother Albert.
