Annette Louise Mapp, 76, of Rock Island, died Saturday, October 13, 2018 at her home. Funeral services will be 3 pm Saturday at the Word of Life Christian Center, 1804 7th Ave., Rock Island, where visitation will be from 1 pm until service time. Memorials may be made in care of the family. Arrangements entrusted to Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island.
Annette was born in Beggs, Oklahoma on February 2, 1942, a daughter of Roosevelt and Vera Walker. She graduated from the former Marycrest College in Davenport.
Annette worked in the Rock Island/Milan School District #41 as a teacher for 15 plus years. She went on to work for XPAC, retiring in 2013. She finished her working career as a bus monitor for the school district and retired in 2018.
Annette was a longtime member of Word of Life Christian Center, Rock Island. She enjoyed bowling, dancing, dressing up, sewing and cooking. Most importantly, she loved her family and was the most humbled, kind and loving mother a family could ask for.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Bernard Walker, MN, Byron (Patricia) Walker, MN, Darla (Robert) Enter, MN, Denise (Larry) McWilliams, GA, Dana Walker, GA, Brian Mapp, MN, De’Shawn Mapp, IL, La’Shawna Mapp, GA, Thomas Lee Mapp, IL and Lee Thomas Mapp Jr., OH; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and a sister, Iva Wells, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, life companion, Lee Thomas Mapp Sr., siblings, Verna Branch, Ralph Walker, Roosevelt Walker Jr., Valle Armstrong and Polly Walker and a son, Braun Mapp.
