Lowell E. Hauger, 85, of Milan, passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2024.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 201 E. 4th Avenue, Milan. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at Preemption Cemetery. Those who would like to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Lowell was born April 26, 1938, to Charles E. and Thelma E. (Foster) Hauger in Davenport, Iowa. Lowell graduated from Sherrard Unit 200 Schools in 1956 and entered the U.S. Navy, serving two years on the Battleship USS Iowa and the USS Bigelow as an electrician. While on the Battleship USS Iowa, Lowell experienced going through the Panama Canal. In 1961, Lowell married Delores Ann Kennedy in Joy, Illinois. Following his time in the Navy, Lowell went through an apprenticeship with IBEW Local 145. He then retired after working 40 years in the electrical trade. Lowell farmed in rural Milan. He collected antique tractors and engines as a hobby and enjoyed working on them and getting them going.
Those left to cherish Lowell’s memory include his amazing wife of 62 years, Delores; his children, Gary (Susan) Hauger, Sharon (Chris) Jacob, and Carl (Amanda) Hauger; four grandchildren, Brian, Kevin, Dayton, and Savanah; sisters, Wanda (Steve) Engelkes and Betty Hauger; nephews, Steve and Ron Maynard, and Doug, Dean, and Dennis Bogart; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Bob and Dee Dee Kennedy and Bonnie and Dennis Green.
Lowell was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Billie Gene.
Memorial donations may be made to the Sherrard Fire Department in Lowell’s memory.
