James L Finley

James L. Finley, 83, of Arcadia, FL, formally of Hampton, IL, passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at Arcadia Hospice House in Arcadia, FL.

There will be a visitation from 11:00am to 12:00pm with a funeral service following at 12:00pm on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan. Burial will be in Andalusia Cemetery. Memorials may be made in care of the family.

James was born August 1, 1940, in Andalusia, IL, the son of Andrew and Zella (Wendt) Finley. He married Jacqueline Kenney and they had two children, Jerome and Julie. He later married Phyllis Stone on April 16, 1976, in Hampton, IL. Though James struggled with dyslexia, he loved to listen and read along with audiobooks. He was a true handyman, always helping neighbors and family with different projects. He loved spending time with his family.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Phyllis; son, Jerome (Mellissa) Finley; son-in-law, Rod Robison; grandchildren, Alex (Terra) Finley, Stephanie (Kenneth) Ehlers, Ashley Finley, Bradley Jackson, Jacob Finley, Jeremy (Quinn) Finley, Shayna (Terry) Wales; and 4 great-grandchildren, and one on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Julie Robison in 2010; siblings and their spouses, Andrew Finley, Shirley and Raymond Fitzpatrick, Betty and Enis Jessie, and Daniel Finley.
