| Dorothy V. Purvis, 92, of Milan, passed away Thursday June 24, 2010 at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00a.m., Tuesday at Greenview Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the Andalusia Volunteer Ambulance Service.
Dorothy was born on July 19, 1917 in Marshalltown, Iowa, the daughter of John and Clara (Winchell) Gillette. She married Robert D. Purvis on June 5, 1937 in Tipton, IA. He preceded her in death on April 2, 1999.
Dorothy stayed at home most of her life to raise their three children.
She was a former member of Andalusia Eastern Star 617. Mrs. Purvis loved crocheting, genealogy and scrapbooking, earlier she had bowled on numerous area leagues.
Survivors include her children and spouses, Donna Taylor, Illinois City, Tom and Karleeta Purvis, Streator, IL, Bob and Dixie Purvis, Reynolds; 7 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; sister, Margie Cooper, Rock Island; sisters in law, Ruth Gillette, Hope Gillette and Alta Seccia.
She was preceded in death by her grandson, Thomas Purvis; brothers, Don, John and Bobby Gillette and a sister, Helen. | |
