| Richard O. “Rick” Finnie, 68, of Rock Island, died Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island, where military honors will be presented by Moline American Legion Post 246. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Quad City Animal Welfare Center, Milan.
Rick was born on May 9, 1939 in Rock Island, the son of Otto and Inez Todd Finnie. He married Martha “Marty” Roach on February 13, 1980 in Rock Island.
He worked 30 years at the Deere Harvester Works, East Moline. After retiring from Deere, Rick worked as a courier for Metro Lab.
Rick was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a former member of the Rock Island Moose. He loved watching tennis and UFC fights. Rick was an Elton John fan and an animal lover.
Survivors include his wife, Marty; daughter, Nikki Finnie, Rock Island; sister, Audrey Tomich, Hiawatha, Iowa and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Shawn Finnie; his parents and a sister, Joan Cook.
