Martha “Marti” Bisby, 63 of Andalusia passed away Thursday April 17, 2008 at her home with her family by her side.
A Celebration of Life service will be held 11:00a.m., Saturday April 26th at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 201 E. 4th Avenue, Milan, IL. Visitation will be 9:30a.m. - 11:00a.m., Saturday at the funeral home. There will be a luncheon following the services at Milan American Legion, 515 W. 1st Avenue, Milan, IL. Marti’s body was donated to medical/chiropractic science. Memorials may be made to Children’s Hospital of Illinois Foundation at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, 530 NE Glen Oak, Peoria, IL 61637.
The former Martha Fisher was born March 31, 1945 in Kewanee, IL the daughter of Edward and Martha Balutis Fisher. She graduated from Alleman High School and attended Blackhawk College. In 1964 she married J. Mike Bisby in Rock Island, IL.
Marti worked at the Rock Island Arsenal and the US Postal Service in Rock Island and Reynolds, IL for a total of 39 years as a civil servant retiring in 2004. She was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan. Marti was a life long Chicago Cubs fan; she also enjoyed antiquing and reading.
Survivors include her husband of 43 years, Mike; daughter, Jamie (Patrick) Fitzgerald, Morton, IL; son, Dr. Douglas Bisby, Tybee Island, GA.; grandchildren, Ryan and Erin Fitzgerald; sisters, Pat (Tom) Zaber, Dubuque, IA., Sharon (Bob) Thompson, Pelzer, SC.; brothers, Mark (Pat) Fisher, Rock Island, Jerry (Becky) Fisher, Walcott, IA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Terry and Mike, favorite nephews, Jeff Boultinghouse and Jeremy and Anthony Fisher. |
