Madlyn E. Lenger, 83 of Coal Valley died, Sunday, April 6, 2008 at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island. Services will 1:00 pm, Wednesday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moline. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-8 pm at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030 – 7th Avenue, Rock Island. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to The Rock Island County Humane Society or to the American Heart Association. Madlyn was born on November 18, 1924 in Freeport, IL, the daughter Rudy and Rose (Linde) Freeberg. She was raised by her aunt and uncle Ernest and Muriel Freeberg. Madlyn married William A. Lenger, Sr. on November 22, 1947 Rock Island, he preceded his wife in death on October 29, 1994. Madlyn graduated from Moline High School in 1943. She later attended Augustana College, Rock Island. She was the president of Zeta Epsilon Chapter, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. In her earlier years Madlyn was employed by the Herman Nelson Corporation, Moline. After her marriage to Mr. Lenger, Madlyn became a full time homemaker to care for her family. Mrs. Lenger was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moline. Left to honor her memory are her sons and their spouses, Rodney and Wanda Lenger, Sanford, Florida, Scott and Cindy Lenger, Walterboro, South Carolina, William Jr. and Cindy Lenger, Coal Valley; grandsons, Phillip Lenger, Orlando, Florida and Andrew Lenger, Sanford, Florida, and her faithful companion, “Heidi”. Mrs. Lenger was preceded in death by her parents, husband, William Sr., aunt and uncle, Ernest and Muriel Freeberg, sisters, Louise Lievens and Charlene Collins, and a brother, Kenny Freeberg.
