John F. “Fred” Lechvar, 62, of Milan, died Saturday, April 5, 2008 at his home.
Memorial visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan.
Fred was born on August 13, 1945 in Detroit, Mich., the son of John and Beatrice Norris Lechvar. He graduated from the Cass Tech High School, Detroit and Carl Sandburg College, Galesburg.
He retired from the City of Moline, where he worked in the waste water management department. Fred had previously worked in similar capacities on the Rock Island Arsenal and for the Village of Milan.
He was a great sports fan and especially of the Cubs and Bears. He also enjoyed watching boxing, going to the movies, music (especially Motown) and muscle cars. Fred loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his sons and daughter-in-law, Zachary Lechvar, Davenport and Matthew and Gina Lechvar and their sons, Jacob and Carter, all of Moline. He was preceded in death by his parents.
