J.C. Pearson, 77 of Rock Island, passed away Tuesday, April 1 at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at Greater Antioch Baptist Church, Rock Island. Visitation will be noon till service time at the church. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Moline. Memorials may be made to the family. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island is assisting the family with arrangements. J.C. was born February 4, 1935 in Brownsville, TN, the son of Henry Louis Pearson, Sr. and Corrine Prickett, who preceded him in death. J.C. married Louise Thompson Pearson on February 21, 1951, from that union, two children were born, Betty Atwater, Rock Island and Jessie Pearson, who preceded him in death. He later married Myrtle Chris Wells Pearson on May 24, 1980 in Rock Island. Together J.C. and Chris raised three children; daughter and son-in-law, Sheronda and Terrill Jones, Davenport; sons and daughters-in-law, Victor and Sharon Jones, Vandalia, MO, Jerrold and U’Lyna Trice, Atlanta, GA. J.C. also had two surviving daughters, Stephanie Johnson, Philadelphia, PA and Jennifer Johnson, Davenport along with Mindie Lowry, whom he helped raise. J.C. retired from John Deere Foundry, East Moline, in 1988 where he worked for 35 years. He was a member of Greater Antioch Baptist Church until his health began to fail, and a member and the East Moline Elks. He loved fishing, playing cards, watching westerns and being surrounded by his family and friends, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. J.C. leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Myrtle Chris Pearson, Rock Island, six children, 1 grandson, 5 great grandchildren. Siblings and their spouses, Willie and Luella Pearson, Rock Island, J.W. Pearson, Halls, TN, Allie B Rice, Springfield, Il along with a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded by brothers, Henry Louis Pearson, Jr. and James Roy Pearson, sisters, Velma Pearson and Carrie Lewis.
