Jennie M. Senatra-Mart, 86, of Rock Island, died Monday March 24, 2008 at St. Anthony’s Continuing Care Center, Rock Island. Services are 11:00 a.m. Thursday at St. Marys Catholic Church, Rock Island. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Visitation will be 4:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island, where a rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to St. Marys Catholic Church. The former Jennie M. Senatra was born March 27, 1921 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Sam Senatra and Angeline Macaluso Senatra. She married Louis E. “Whitey” Mart on July 28, 1967 in Galena, IL. He preceded her in death on September 4, 1989. Jennie was a waitress and hostess for 40 years at the Gay 90’s Restaurant. She began at the former Harper House Hotel, then the former Harms Hotel, and lastly at the Clayton House, Davenport. Following her retirement in 1986, she worked with her husband at their grocery, The Handy Store, Rock Island. She was an active member for many years at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Rock Island and volunteered at St. Anthony’s Continuing Care Center. She loved her family and friends, especially her nieces and nephews. She enjoyed playing bingo. Surviving are a stepdaughter and her husband, Bonnie and John Graham, Miami, FL; two step grandchildren; brothers (and spouses), Vincent Senatra, Rock Island, Philip (Edith) Senatra, Silvis, and Carmelo “Carm” (Barbara) Senatra, Moline; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Her parents, husband, and two brothers, Tom Senatra and Joseph Senatra, preceded her in death.
