| Franz Strosche, 83, of Rock Island, died Monday, March 17, 2008 at Trinity Pathway Hospice, Bettendorf.
Private memorial services will be Thursday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island. Inurnment will be at a later date. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
Mr. Strosche was born on October 1, 1924 in Sattai, Czechoslovakia, a son of Josef and Anna Lahn Strosche. He married Kaete Epkes in 1947 in Holtland, Germany.
Franz came to the United States from Germany in 1951. He settled first in Southern Illinois and later moved to the Quad Cities in 1963. He worked at John Deere Plow, Moline for 22 years and retired in 1985.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Taylor Ridge. Franz enjoyed woodworking and collecting coins and stamps.
Survivors include his wife, Kaete; children (and spouses), Franz (Dianna) Strosche, Rock Island, JoAnn Bream, Davenport, Walter (Rita) Strosche, Milan, Karl S. (Kathi) Strosche, Coyne Center and Sylvia Strosche, Coal Valley; grandchildren, Inge and Karl J. Strosche, G. Benjamin and Angela Martin, Heather (Rob) Rouwenhurst, Amy (John) Holbert, Amber (Jeremy) Doppler and Elisabeth (Ryan) Rowe and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
