| Richard G. Mader, 79, of Milan, died Saturday, March 1, 2008 at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan. Burial will be in Chapel Grove Cemetery, Bowling Township. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
Mr. Mader was born on May 30, 1928 in Detroit, Mich., the son of Rudolph G. and Regina I. Neumann Mader. He married Doris P. Albertson on Aug. 31, 1946 in Rock Island.
Richard was a lifetime truck driver. He drove for several trucking companies and retired from Dairy Pack in Clinton, Iowa, where he worked for 20 years. Dick loved his job of truck driving. Following retirement he worked as a greeter for Wal-Mart, Moline.
He was a member of Memorial Christian Church, Moline, where he served as an Elder. Richard was also a member of the Historical Truck Society. He immensely enjoyed and loved his family and holiday meals when all 43 would gather, sit, eat and laugh together at one table.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Doris; daughters and sons-in-law, Regina and Kenny Hoffman, Milan, Vicki and Norris Youngberg, Coal Valley and Terri and Ronald Westfall, High Point, NC; sons and daughters-in-law, Richard A. and Julie Mader, Davenport and Jerry and Judy Mader, Milan; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and one great great grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents.
