Edward “Ted” Eagle, 89, of Rock Island died Thursday, January 11, 2007. Visitation will be 3-6 P.M. Monday at Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island. Services will be held Tuesday at 1:00 P.M. at Wheelan Funeral Home. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
Mr. Eagle was born Dec. 23, 1917 in Moline, a son of Edward L. and Elsie (Snook) Eagle, Sr. He married M. Lorraine Dallaire, Sept. 28, 1942 in Sioux Falls, SD. She died May 16, 2003.
Ted practiced law in Rock Island for sixty years. He started his law career in 1941when he joined his father Edward L. “Ed” Eagle, Sr. He was soon joined by his brother, Robert A. “Bob” Eagle. Ted was well known as a legal scholar. He was co-valedictorian of his graduating class at the University of Illinois in 1939 along with Dr. Emerson Ward, Rochester, MN. He was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi and the Order of the Coif.
He had many hobbies including: fishing, golfing, bowling, and ping pong. In his younger days he was an accomplished boxer, runner, and he always LOVED to tell stories.
Survivors include the children and their spouses, Nita Eagle-Frink and Robert Frink, Rock Island; Gerry and Bill Yeager, Rock Island; Lew Eagle, Oakland, CA; Marc Eagle and Shari Young, Montpelier, VT; Dr. Bruce and Setsu Eagle, St. Cloud, MN; James and Suzanne Eagle, Rock Island, and a daughter-in-law, Penny Eagle, Glenview, IL; grandchildren and their spouses Ian Frink and his wife Monique, Davenport; Dr. Stephen Murphy M.D., and his fiancé Steffanie Luther, Chicago; Jeffrey Murphy and his wife Michelle, Davidson, NC; Shannon Eagle, Ted Eagle, and Paul “P.J.” Eagle, Chicago area; Karia Young-Eagle, and Shawn Young-Eagle, Montpelier, VT; Allison Eagle, Nicole Eagle and Michael Eagle, St. Cloud, MN; Joe Eagle, Julie Eagle, and Charlie Eagle, Rock Island; and great-grandchildren, Connor Ryan Frink, Catherine Aree Murphy, Carter Michael Murphy, and Alexis Dallaire Churnovik. Ted is also survived by a brother Attorney Richard “Dick” Eagle, St. Petersburg, FL. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Lorraine and their son, Paul. Also predeceasing Ted was his brother and law partner of many years Bob Eagle.
