Winnifred "Margaret" Anderson Obituary

               Winnifred “Margaret” Anderson, 96, of Milan, passed away Monday, March 12, 2018 at Avonlea Cottage, Milan.

                A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, March 19, 2018 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 801 W. Edgington St., Reynolds.  Interment will be at Reynolds Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to Avonlea Cottage, Milan

                Margaret was born on March 6, 1922, in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada, the daughter of Fredrick and Margaret (McHattie) Gorman.  She married Floyd L. Anderson on July 29, 1946 in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. He preceded her in death in 2008.  She graduated from the Women’s College of Nursing in Toronto.  Margaret worked as a registered nurse at St. Anthony’s Hospital and later retired from Franciscan, Rock Island.  Once retired, she left Reynolds with her husband Floyd, and moved to Mesa, AZ for 20 years.  She was a former member of Reynolds United Methodist Church and the Reynolds American Legion Auxillary.  Margaret loved traveling and was an avid reader.  She enjoyed nature, especially watching birds and stargazing. 

                Margaret is survived by her children, Phyllis (Gary) Titterington, Hot Springs Village, AR, Patricia (Gary) Van Court, Rock Island, and Fred (Jody) Anderson, Eagle, WI; 8 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sister, Elizabeth Chick; and brother, John Gorman. 

                The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Avonlea Cottage for their loving care and compassion they gave to Margaret.
