Shirley L. Anders

Shirley L. Anders, 79, of Rock Island, passed away Monday March 12, 2018 at home.

Visitation will be 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 – 7th Ave., Rock island. Following visitation, the family will have a private graveside service and burial at Memorial Park Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to Quad City Animal Welfare Center, Milan.

Shirley was born August 15, 1938 in Moline, IL, a daughter of Harold and Nora Sunbeck Tomlinson.

She was first married to Donald Greim. She later married Jerry L. Anders on December 11, 1989 in Montana.

 Shirley graduated from Black Hawk College with her R.N. degree. She began her nursing career at Oak Glen Home, later served as Director of Nursing at St. Anthony’s Care Center for a time. She later worked at Franciscan Hospital and UnityPoint Health-Trinity Medical Center from which she retired following over 39 years of service.

 Shirley dedicated her life to nursing, and will be fondly remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved animals and caring for her pet dog, Timmy. She also enjoyed traveling.

 Surviving are her husband, Jerry, of Rock Island; children and their spouses, Larry and Sarah Greim, Coal Valley, IL, Vickie and Steve Fowler, East Moline, IL, Ronald and Liz Greim, Cambridge, IL, Sheila and Thomas Hinzman, Milan, IL, Matthew and Susie Anders, Rock Island, and Mark and Esther Anders, Westland, MI; sixteen grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and her nephew, Mike Tomlinson, Davenport.

 Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; one son in infancy, Ricky Greim; brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Betty Tomlinson; and nephew, Kenneth Tomlinson.
