Phyllis J. (Rudsell) Speak-Juels

                Phyllis J. Speak-Juels, 85, of Rock Island, Illinois, passed away on October 6, 2017 at UPH-Trinity, Rock Island.  Phyllis was cremated and will be buried next to her husband, at the Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island.  A private burial service will be held at the cemetery.

                She was born September 16, 1932 in Quincy, Illinois to Jules and Nancy Katzell Rudsell. 

                Phyllis owned and operated businesses in the area for over forty years.  She owned and operated the La Chateau in East Moline, Big Erns and A & J Tap on 7th Street in Moline, and the Wintergreen Harbor Inn, in Andalusia.  Phyllis loved to play shuffleboard and was one of the best women shooters in the Quad Cities.  They took first place in the area several times.  She enjoyed life to the fullest and loved her children and grandchildren.  She also had a little dog named Kiki that she loved dearly.

                She married Milton Batchelder in 1957, she later married Ernie Speak in 1967 and they preceded her in death.  She married Arnie Juels in 1982 and he also preceded her in death.  She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. 

                Survivors include: daughters, Nancy (Robert) Swift, Milan, IL, Benita (Larry) Mize, Ooltewah, TN; sons, Michael (Lauri) Speak, Milan, IL, Milton (Sheri) Batchelder, Pueblo, CO; step-daughter, Ruth (Dave) Clark, Bettendorf, IA; grandchildren, Cynthia (Daniel) Fuller, Golden, IL, Donna Williamson, Milian, IL, Chad (Betsy) Mize, Ooltewah, TN, Kyle Mize, Chattanooga, TN, Chelsea and Michaela Speak, Milan, IL, Danielle, Kira, Damon, Megan, and Rachel Batchelder, CO; great grandchildren, Sarah (Brennan) Pasvogel, Kelsey (Jason) Chalder, Andy Tipton, Taylor (Diana) Maldonado, Conner Williamson, Zoey, Sophia, and Thomas Mize; great-great grandchildren, Journee and Carter Chalder, Maci Johnson, and Henry Pasvogel; special niece, Cheryl Pinkston; special nephew, Junior Rudsell; and step-grandchildren, Kelly and David Clark, IA.

                She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Leroy, James and Fremont; and five sisters, Shirley, Dorothy, Maxine, Elizabeth, and Helen.
