Paul Snell Obituary

Paul Junior Snell, 89, of Milan, died Friday, February 9, 2018 at UnityPoint Health – Trinity, Rock Island.  Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan.  Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.  Burial will be at Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island, where military honors will be conducted.  Memorials may be made in care of the Honor Flight of the Quad Cities, or Church of Peace, United Church of Christ, Rock Island.

Paul was born in Aledo, Ill. on August 20, 1928, a son of Ira and Mary Andress Snell.  He graduated from Aledo High School and later joined the U.S. Army, serving as a sergeant first class during the Korean War.

Paul married Jean Marilyn Nice on June 30, 1950 at Church of Peace, United Church of Christ, Rock Island.  She preceded him in death on February 3, 2009.

Paul worked over 40 years as a journeyman tool and dye maker for Swan Engineering in Bettendorf.

Paul was a member of Church of Peace, United Church of Christ, Rock Island, Milan American Legion Post 569 and the Rock Island Conservation Club, where he enjoyed playing cards.  He was also an avid golfer.

Survivors include his children, Karen Clark, Milan, Connie (Thomas) Donnelly, Milan and Steven Snell, Fort Wayne, Ind.; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, brother, John and sisters, Dorothy and Betty.
